Chemistry is the science of the structure, properties and reactions of matter. It is both a basic science, fundamental to an understanding of the world we live in, and a practical science with an enormous number and variety of important applications. Studying chemistry opens doors to a range of sectors and opportunities, meaning your future career isn’t restricted to the lab.
It can be hard to define the boundaries of modern Chemistry as it is no longer simply focused on atoms, ionic compounds and small molecules. Interdisciplinary fields such as materials science, nanotechnology, environmental science and, of course, biology are firmly rooted in Chemistry. It plays a vital role in the development of materials with superior properties. They range from consumer and industrial products such as pesticides for agriculture, novel drugs to fight diseases to nanomaterials possessing unique chemical and physical properties.
Market Value:
According to the most recent survey, the median starting chemist salary for graduates with a bachelor’s degree was PKR 40,000. However, the size of the employer makes a difference. For firms with less than 50 employees, the starting salary was PKR 35,000. So, the average salary for a Chemist is PKR 37,860 per month in Pakistan.
Admission Criteria:
A-Levels, FSc or Intermediate with Chemistry with minimum 55% marks and no 3rd division in matriculation. Admission is granted on merit determined on the basis of scores earned in admission test and academic record.
